1. Get hands-on with AI tools, especially the most common ones your employees may be using(e.g., ChatGPT).
2. Read about how AI tools work and understand some of the risk frameworks like the one released by NIST.
3. Attend CLEs on AI and sign up for and read firm newsletters on AI.
4. Create an AI policy for your company and help educate your executive team and employees about the opportunities and risks and necessary guardrails for using AI tools and incorporating them into your products or services.

Yes and it is imperative to be deeply familiar with technology, machine learning/AI, including non GenAI as a privacy attorney. Imo you cannot properly practice without this knowledge.

Yes, and there certainly *are* privacy issues involved.
There are certainly privacy issues with AI, but there also are a lot of AI issues that aren’t privacy issues, yet a lot of people lump some of those in as “privacy” issues or otherwise to be handled by privacy lawyers despite being part of, or much more closely related to, other subject areas.
