Will I just be knocked down a level and still get lifetime? How does it work? Thank you in advance!
The tiers are based on the number of years you have been at a certain status plus your lifetime nights. https://www.marriott.com/loyalty/member-benefits/lifetime-status.mi
Officially you can't reach platinum lifetime until you have that for 10 years but there may be some give, especially you have stayed a lot the past two years when people like me have not.
I have only really reached the silver level the past few years by yearly stays and that is only because of the credit card. However, I reached my platinum lifetime status several years ago so that's the status I get.
It looks like Marriott officially got rid of the Titanium lifetime status in 2019 (except if you are grandfathered in) when it merged with Starwood.
I am not sure what lifetime status you are close to. If it's five years, you will never go below silver, seven is gold, and 10 is platinum.
Ir sounds like you will at least reach platinum next year. You won't go down from titanium to silver just because you didn't meet the titanium level. Your yearly status trumps your lifetime status if your yearly status is higher. This is all conditioned on Marriott keeping these tiers the way they are currently. .
