I've been a government attorney for nearly three years now and have worked in the same office/division since I passed the bar. I've yet to receive a promotion other than two cost of living increases (in sum, a pay increase of 6k over 3 years). I know this is meager, but I'm mostly ok with it, I just want to see some recognition. But I haven’t heard back anything yet! The directors told me that they are in dire need of people and are hiring like crazy! I’m considering applying for a cybersecurity LLM program but there aren’t many options. I want to transition to a cybersecurity law role but I have no prior experience in the field. Will a data privacy LLM cover most of the information I need?

I’m currently finishing up a cybersecurity Master’s degree, have an LLM in Intellectual Property, licensed in nine states, and I’m published in the field. I wanted to practice cyberlaw and could not get anyone to hire me nor get enough business on my own to sustain me. I’m working in a completely different area of law and while I really enjoy it, it doesn’t challenge me. Any tips on how to build up this area of my practice- especially privacy law?

My group (data privacy and cybersecurity) is hiring associates and partners. We do primarily incident response with some compliance on the side. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I have heard privacy is a big issue for companies these days and am wondering if it is worth getting certified to stand out. I have been doing M&A and PE work before so I do not have any applied privacy experience (but I think it’s really interesting).
