Anti Israeli policy is one thing, but blatantly anti Jewish is far over the line. I would report if you consider it to be strongly antisemitic
Oh god. I think it depends on the situation. People have definitely been fired for saying blatantly racist, sexist, or otherwise hateful things on social media outside work contexts. In consulting this is especially valid because you’re representing the corporate brand to clients and it isn’t a stretch to say social media posts could impact business sales.
I think you have a right to report it if you feel strongly about it, and you might get a better outcome framing it as something that could hurt the company vs. just you (to minimize potential pushback directed at you). If you feel comfortable, I’d show the post to other colleagues and gauge their reactions. Plus if more people report it that will strengthen the case.
I get it. If it helps, you aren’t trying to get them fired by reporting their content. They have a right to freely express their opinion as you mentioned, but their employer has a right to follow up with consequences if a line was crossed especially in client-facing professional services. The consequence could be nothing or a vanilla clarification to be cautious with polarizing social media posts as a representative of BCG.
It’s hard for me as an outsider to judge without seeing the content, knowing BCG’s internal culture and the people involved, so for that reason I’d low-key ask others internally (not sure if there is a Jewish ERG?). Something open-ended like « Did you see [name’s] posts? What do you think? » If they react similarly, you may feel stronger coming forward.
Will it actually be considered over the line? I’ve seen antisemitism be overlooked so many times.
