As an associate do you like working in large practice groups or smaller practice groups? (I.e. 1 partner and 3 associates or 10 partners and 30 associates etc…)

10 partners and 30 associates is still small enough that you can get substantive experience and work closely with partners who actually know your name, so you’re not just a number, but big enough that you’ll likely get coverage when you’re on vacation. Also, IME, the bigger the group, the less manipulative guilt tripping you’ll face when you inevitably give notice.

Horrible anxiety about considering a new job....
I was one of the big firm stealth layoffs in covid and joined a boutique firm in Sept. They came sort of close to matching my salary but I moved to SoCal and have an opportunity to jump back in to big law and get $100k raise. The people at the small firm are so nice, but hours are nuts and if I’m going to work this much, I might as well get paid more, right? Is it too soon?
