I’m currently a 2nd year associate in commercial finance. I’ve realized I don’t enjoy a a strictly transactional practice. I enjoyed litigation matters as a summer (particularly the adversarial nature). Also, love talking and advising clients. I don’t want the litigation lifestyle and appreciate the in-house opportunities of transactional. Assuming that I could switch (or lateral), I’m thinking I may enjoy employment (and the ability to defend and train/advise). I appreciate any insight.

I’m a second year associate at a small, but reputable firm. My caseload is almost entirely made up of clients who were referred to one of the partners but the partners are too busy so I end up taking the case. The clients are told up front that an associate, rather than a partner will be taking his/her case. I’ve run into an issue a couple of times where the client doubts my advice because I am only 2 years in. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I address the fact that I’m only 2 years in?

Does anyone regret joining a boutique consulting firm? I signed with a startup out of college (spring 2020) whose founding partners were all partners/Sr leaders at a few T2s. Our firm is super small (dozen FTEs) but does really good work (we charge premium rates and work super cool projects). Do you think it's a good idea to devide work experience by projets? Or is it better to have "projects highlights" separate from work experience.. something like: intro>functional expertise> project highlights>work experience>education?
