S5 or walk. 220hp in the standard isn’t anything special.
Sorry i misspoke, I meant the S series like S5,S4, etc, not the trim

Yeah, the A models of Audis all basically use the same turbo 4 engine that you get in a Jetta. They have good technology and nice interiors but it’s really just a luxury car, not a sports car, unless you get the S version.
I have an older (2010) A6 and it’s fast but pretty boring and tame to drive day in and day out. If you’re coming from like a Toyota Corolla it’ll be fun but will quickly become boring to daily. It’s not at the same level as their S line or an AMG. Great car nonetheless but not exactly super exciting or thrilling to drive
OP, I would also consider the M440i. BMW has done an awesome job in branding (much better used-car market down the road)

I had a silver one (sport package) for 2 years and really loved it. Great driving experience in the the city and highways, very fun car!
Is the S5 a better option? hell yeah!
However, all depends on your life situation for next 5 years, I have 2 young kids (7 and 3) and therefore an A5 was a good compromise with a new baby 2 years ago (no way I will drive a van or suv, except to take the wife car to service).
Tips: do your homework with pricing research online (TrueCar, KKB), walk to dealer with low ball offer, decline all service programs except TIRE insurance (VW is not very mature, tgeir policies are not transferabled, no early termination).
I have a 2019 A5 Prestige, it’s the perfect car for me. Fully loaded so everything is included, the HP is bleh but in sport it gets pretty sweet. Very fun drive all around

I have an S4, so it’s the same power train as the the S5. I test drive and A4 as well. It’s not a bad engine, coupled with the dual clutch it’s decently quick, but the v6 in the S4 has great torque and is so smooth
The Quattro isn’t too bad! On a day to day drive if you aren’t thrill seeker the 2.0t with an apr stage 1 is pretty fast not s5 fast but good enough for in and around the city
I love my A4 with the same powertrain but I wouldn’t call it a driver’s car. Savagegeese on YouTube reviewed the A5 and was complimentary about it and like the way it drove.
