Wondering if I should look into anxiety meds (or if I’m just a baby and need to get used to this life).

Have you tried any? Did it help? Affect your productivity? Which ones? tya!

Do you have general anxiety disorder or panic attacks? Different meds work for different problems. I have Xanax for the (increasingly) rare occasions when I feel a panic attack coming on. Since starting Zoloft about 1.5 years ago, I’ve hardly needed the Xanax at all (like, didn’t even go through a 30 qty fill in the last 2 years, of pandemic parenting 2 toddlers, which is quite a feat!). Exercise also helps.

like

Yeah exercise helps and that’s really annoying for those of us that are like “what? Running around for 30 minutes and not doing anything else helps? That can’t be true” but alas… it really helps

Anxiety meds have changed my life. If you feel the need to ask, it's worth talking to your physician about a trial run. I'm on Lexapro, if that's helpful. It's an antidepressant but my doc gave it to me for anxiety. It's so subtle a change, but it makes all the difference for me. It allows me to better gage what is truly a crisis or problem vs. a potential problem or just an irritation.

Prozac made me feel the best I’ve ever felt mentally but I also gained 20 lbs in 3 months so I had to quit

I’m on Wellbutrin. I tried Prozac, Zoloft, lexapro, and hated the zombie feeling so much that I would just stop taking them. Wellbutrin is commonly used for smoking cessation and SAD, but my doctor decided to try it since I have a shaky history with SSRIs and I’m so glad. I have general anxiety disorder and there have been times in my life that I was having major physical side effects (frequent vomiting, almost constant elevated heart rate, etc). Medication has been a huge help, it’s definitely worth talking to your doctor.

Wellbutrin- no weight gain and many of the negative side effects from other anxiety/depression meds are not there. I take it with adderall and it helps.

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?

I’m struggling with an issue with a student right now. I teach in a suburban school outside of NYC that has a very large majority of white students. One of my Black students was recently involved in a biased incident with another student in which he received racist social media messages and racist spoken words from the other student. This was a kid that my Black student thought was his friend. He’s heartbroken, and so am I. I want to know how I can best support my student.

Googling ADHD today (I’m having a distracted day) and super frustrated because I’m realizing that I was likely misdiagnosed as depressed for years. I was taking SSRIs and dealing with awful side effects while I struggled for so long. I finally got an official diagnosis about 10 years ago but was never taught the symptoms or how to manage them. Found you tube channel ADDitutde magazine. Several really good presentations with recent developments Thought I’d share.

First day of 30mg vyvanse today. Had a rush of energy and hyperfocus (too much so) about 2-4 hours in, but had a complete crash 5hrs after taking the pill (just a wave of fatigue, felt very good after a quick 15min nap actually) and not sure if it had any effect after. Is this normal? Should I stick it out for a few days or is this a big sign that I’m not on the right meds/dose? Nervous to keep trialling this during the workday since a midday crash is not ideal. Appreciate any advice!

Here is my current cocktail: Caffeine 400mg (200 when I wake up then another 200 when I go to the gym 30 minutes later), Modafinil 150, Bupropian XL 150. I used to take adderall but it made me crazy for lack of a better word. Looking to add a stimulant for focus. Suggestions? Currently deciding between Ritalin and Vyvanse. Also, I know I’m a stim junkie I was taking adderall for 20 years so my tolerance is pretty high. Please keep it positive and helpful thanks

Are people still live on here? I was diagnosed last year with ADD and I’ve tried two stimulants so far. I know they aren’t meant to be a magic pill but I’m still struggling with general tasks and feel like I’m doing the bare minimum. The Nurse has suggested I try non stimulants. What are peoples experiences with meds ? Did they work or not?

How do you all deal with time management - and specifically time estimate - problems?

I always underestimate how long things will take, both because we ADHD’ers view time differently and because I don’t build in time for getting distracted.

I work with a partner who asks me by when I can get something done rather than giving a deadline. I appreciate the flexibility but I always short sell myself and end up pulling all-nighters to meet my self-imposed unrealistic deadlines.
