Junior and associate are the same thing. If anything, junior is UNDER associate.... it's like assistant producer.
You should be a mid level producer by now after 3 years for sure, so if you don't have a promotion in the works, you should leave for a higher salary and promotion. (Assuming you're solid and the delay is your company's fault, not yours.)
AP's in NYC range from 45-65. After 3 years you'd be closer to 65.
But if you get a promotion, or leave, get a mid level title and reach for 85k or so. Maybe 5-10k more if they have money to spend.
But also, real question... Why don't you know the title above you...?
Okay okay, this is nuts. I know titles feel good but they’re meaningless. Here’s the ONLY QUESTION that matters: have you helmed your own shoot yet? If not, you’re not a producer, so it doesn’t matter what they call you. Get the experience, then sweat the trappings.
Would a mid level title be integrated producer? Or something else?
Digital producer, integrated producer, producer. Anything that doesn't say associate/junior/assistant, and obviously doesn't say senior.
It could be a difference, it could be not a difference. Producer itself as a title is unspecialized and can do all workstreams, and same goes for Integrated producer imo.
At my agency, integrated producers are the project managers. So we call ourselves broadcast/content producers to differentiate. It’s different everywhere.
How many years experience? First job?
3 years experience
Shouldn’t be associate anymore, Jr maybe?
I’ve been asking around to about the levels of “producer” as well - I too am in the same boat of wanting to make that next step so I want a title in mind... @producer 1, what would you say the difference is between producer and integrated producer?
Broadcast Producer 2 - AMEN! You have to be able to do the job to have the title. If you can’t helm a project from prep through post on your own then you’re not a full up “Producer.”
