Isn’t that a staple for any case interview?
You are supposed to ask questions before diving into your framework or you may miss some critical elements.
Source: dozen of MBB consultants in my MBA cohort.
I always recap problem and ask clarifying questions to ensure a good understanding of the case, before developing my framework
If you have 1-2 questions before sharing your framework that’s fine. If you have more than ask the interviewer that you have have few more questions and if they would like you to ask the questions or share the framework first.
More explanation - I ask for clarifying questions to make sure I understand the problem but should I typically ask for more information with additional questions as well to get a better overview of the problem as well?
Example: if they say profits have gone down
Can I ask before jumping into the framework: by how much have profits gown down? When have profits started to go down?

I would suggest to ask “how much profit do we wanna improve? What’s the time line?”
