If 2 days is going to make or break your target, you're doing it wrong.

Seriously dude? Suggest being a glass is half full attitude. Life is more enjoyable.

Okay, Ebenezer. Just be happy about the time off!

OP loosen up

like

Omg OP go away. If you have "too much work" that you can't plan now to enjoy two extra days between Christmas and New Years, then you are doing life wrong

like

Deloitte is getting something out of this. I don't trust this place any more. They give us $500, but what's the real motive?

like

Who the eff are you? Shut up and enjoy. Ugh

OP sucks.

There's no satisfying everyone. Geez free money and time off and still people complain.

Geeze 🙄

You cannot satisfy everyone

like

I don't need time off! I have too much work to do!

like

Can't you still bill during that time if you choose to work those days?

like

Yes but I'd rather have the ability to float those days and bank them as PTO and use them when I need it. Besides it's hard to work 9 productive hours on a holiday alone. For me at least.

The cost will come out of our. pockets in the end some how. Raise or bonus will reflect the day's and $500. They think it's low productivity time anyways, so make a profit by lowering costs and letting everyone think it's a benefit.

This is why everyone hates us. If you don't like it OP, quit. You sound like a miserable person to be on a team with.

For those of us capped at 40 billable hours, it's not much of a perk. The gift card is a nice treat.

Currently a second-year associate at a regional firm. I have become really unhappy with the life-style at a firm and the constant stress of meeting my billable requirements. It was always my goal to go in-house, but I know I likely lack the requisite experience to make a move somewhere that can offer meaningful advancement. Any advice? I know it will likely be that I need to “stick it out” for a few more years, but I am just extremely dissatisfied with the prospect of being at a firm for years.

I’ve been working as a Paralegal a little over two months…and I don’t like it. This is not to say I don’t like being a paralegal (I love it), but I don’t understand how work at this firm is not distributed properly. How are attorneys giving legal assistants billable work? Also, it’s very frustrating to work in an environment that’s very inconsistent. They say “ask questions”, but what do you do when everyone’s answer is different. I’m just trying to figure out protocol, but it seems nonexistent.

Anybody switched from plaintiff to defense later in their career? If so, which did you prefer? Also, I’ve done plaintiff work my entire career - outside of billable hours, in your experience what are some frustrations/challenges that are unique to the defense side? I’m a 10 year attorney looking at some defense jobs right now and they seem a lot more stable with more upward mobility than anything I’ve experienced at a plaintiff firm. Thanks in advance for any comments offered.

Is it just me or the average billable work in infrastructure transactions has blown off steam in the last couple of weeks?

Is it legal to dock pay, bonuses and/or origination payouts if billable time isn’t entered on time? Firm is threatening a 3 strike rule. Just seems off if you work for the money (it’s calculated based on rates/hours/business brought in) that they could threaten you this way. Firing? I understand that. I’m in Pennsylvania if that makes a difference.

Should I be concerned for my career with lack of billable projects? Background: Analyst hired out of undergrad in July 2020. I have worked on 3 proposals in the last 2 weeks, and 5 in the last 2 months. In the past year since I was hired, I have 8 months of billable work which is actually slightly higher than the other Analysts I joined with. Should I keep collecting paychecks and hoping for projects, or is this a serious issue that should prompt an exit strategy?
