They both have their Pros and cons, But In house can be daunting if you also have union employees in the law department, and they always shift the interesting work to outside counsel
I prefer in house. I do miss the over time I used to make at a big law firm but think my salary fairly compensates me.
I have done both. In house. No question.
In house provides interesting work and comparable pay, without the stress and unpredictable schedule of law firm work. Best decision I ever made.
In-house is definitely less stressful because you typically don't have absolute deadlines. If it's a smaller in-house department, you have more opportunities to deal with different kinds of law.
