AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon

Depends on the state.
It both depends on the state and the employer policy. Some (usually large) employers will let you cash out what you have at the end of the year. Some will pay that out to you if you’re laid off. Very few states require it. One of the benefits to employers who give “unlimited PTO” is that you’re not accruing anything, so there’s nothing to pay out.
This is what I'm seeing too. In my last job ~5 years ago when I left I got my PTO cashed out, then they changed to unlimited PTO so no accrual=no payment. That affected old timers that had been stockpiling theirs- they got nothing for it
Depends on the company my previous one did not but the company previous to that one did .......
Generally, they only cash it out when you leave. I’ve never worked somewhere that would cash it out unless I quit it got terminated.
