Thinking about accepting a software engineering offer for BCG Digital Ventures . can anyone working there tell me about the work culture, learning opportunities, and exit opps . Im also interviewing with Zillow and am deciding wether to wait or take an offer. I’m really intrigued by the idea of building ventures and learning alot on the technical and entrepreneurial sides, but the opportunity to work for a tech unicorn is also very intriguing

Rising Star
If you’re moving here for COL reasons, you’re 10 years too late. Days drive of mountains and beaches is nice though
I live in Chicago so it’s not like a huge change I guess

Pros:
-easy to travel anywhere either flying or driving
-large multicultural influences and reasonably easy to fine traditional food
-still reasonably affordable
-lots of different vibes in different neighborhoods
Cons
-cost of living has been rising steadily making it less the value it used to be
-need a car/bad public transportation
-can get very southern quickly outside of the city
-unlikely to be bipartisan at the state government level
-perpetually mediocre sports teams

Delta flights on the low
Good food, for anywhere from $$-$$$
Diverse
Job mkt
2hrs from other fun cities (2hrs Chattanooga, 2+hrs from Nashville)
Cons-
Housing prices

It’s not just outside the city, you’re just not going to live in the middle of midtown.
Pro or Con: Collegiate sports rule supreme - it’s SEC land / lackluster NBA and NFL teams / United has promise
Pro: relatively decent COL comparatively
suburbs have some good school systems
Delta flies direct to anywhere “worth going to” (slight exaggeration)
Con: not many lakes, and Lake Lanier is a death trap
ATL airport is anchored south of the city. It’s a haul from the northern suburbs and mass transit is non-existent
If you don’t live in a disastrous traffic city now, it’s hard to understand how truly bad ATL is
Pro
Pro’s:
-Cost of living (compared to HCOL cities)
-Diversity of neighborhoods - something for everyone
-Doesn’t get below freezing much
-Airport / Delta gets you almost anywhere
-Good suburbs and schools for settling down and raising kids
Cons:
-Not walkable. Traffic is terrible. Highways and confusing city streets - complete sprawl
-Caters to the southeast, not metropolitan/international. Not much to see or do compared to most big cities
-Humidity is terrible
-Crime is bad. You could be in a great neighborhood, walk a block, and then in a terrible neighborhood
-Social scene is inward unless you’re from a regional SEC or ACC school
This is the type of review I needed. Thank you
Pros-
Foodie city
Every major concert comes here
It barely snows
Always something to do on weekends and during the week
Lots of fitness opportunities from gyms to trails
Lively arts scene (theater, comedy, ballet, etc)
Dog friendly
Driving distance to different beaches
Outdoor golf nearly all year
Cons-
Deceivingly expensive
Segregated
Women’s rights 🫠
Gun culture is far too lax (like who shoots up a fogo de chao?)
Traffic
Not as “healthy” or green of a city in comparison to others
Grass is not legal
