Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.
https://ergochair.co/collections/chairs/products/ergonomics-mesh-chair-w-adjustable-headrest-and-armrest?variant=32511617597491
My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

"Killer Mike" gave an interview about Boston and was spooked about how segregated it was.
Like, in Atlanta there was a "Black Beverly Hills", but in Boston there was nothing like that.
It's good that, in the modern US, we at least get to choose the city we live in.
Did anyone mention Seattle? $10/mile for a Lyft ride and the county charges hundreds of dollars in registration fees to discourage you from owning a car. Or the exaggerated cost of living via rent, groceries, etc. that makes you feel poor if you’re not an SDE or married to a high earner. Couple that with our inability to prosecute crimes, and repeatedly throwing criminals with laundry lists back onto the streets, it’s impractical to walk without a weapon. Service workers automatically assume you’re a wealthy tech person and despise you, giving you terrible service for tasks like moving, restaurant service, sales, etc.
Even in broad daylight I was stalked by a junkie a few weeks ago who wanted to kidnap my goldendoodle for a cool grand to trade for drugs 🤷🏻♀️ why pay so much to be surrounded by filth, high fees, and lawlessness?
Violent crimes have risen drastically over the past few years. https://youtu.be/8XDYm9ECPao
The crux if the issue is the politics and culture over there. I noticed that the people were very….silod and hands-off over there. They take all of these issues on the chin and act like this is all normal. In 2 of the several instances my partner was assaulted (all occurring within only 7 months) there were people around and no one says it does anything. There is a much stronger sense of community policing in other cities. In addition, the police force is absolutely GUTTED because of the politics over there.

We’re just going to forget NYC and SF exist, eh?
GOOOOO BIIIIRRRDDSSS
Because it isn’t truly a big city
Agree C2, the value is the worst aspect of Boston. Will move to Chicago when my SO gets a new job
Because it’s so damn cold
Minneapolis has entered the chat
The premise of your question itself makes this impossible to answer - it’s not a big city. It’s the best small city IMO, but comparing it to NY, SF, CHI is apples and oranges.
Ooh another mainstream media article talking about racism. Groundbreaking and novel stuff, you don’t see that every day

Seattle is good if you live in Bellevue 🤣
I love Boston! Walkable, (relatively) clean, lots of opportunities without feeling completely overwhelming, close to the ocean/mountains, good healthcare/education… I really enjoy it!

What’s wrong with Boston?

I know that Atlanta and New Orleans have really wealthy areas that are predominantly African American.
Boston does not.
The ideal state is that "no one cares what race you are", but unfortunately that's not a reality. Lots of African American people have told me that they weren't comfortable in Boston and I believe them.
No direct experience myself and not accusing any individual of any thing.

I like LA for the Mediterranean Climate
However, I think the quality of life in nearly every other part of SoCal is better: SB, Ventura, OC, SD
Boston and Chicago are the only US cities I would live in.
*Best
In part because it isn’t a big city

Houston pretty nice outside of the summer
A2, I think it depends what you want to do. Mountains? No. Water stuff? Yes, with Lake Conroe, Clear Lake, and Galveston max 1.5 hours away. With a Houston consulting/IB/etc salary + Houston housing prices you should be able to buy a normal house plus a lake house or beach house, if you wanted
This thread is so entertaining
You’re welcome
SF, NYC = Best
I like to think of Boston is a major city not a big city and yes I would choose most other cities before Boston
Fair
Under what definition is Boston a major city?

You haven’t been to Detroit have you?
I’ve lived in boston’s south end for 7 years and there are more liberal people here than any other place Ive visited or lived. Most people are very level headed. Maybe not the friendliest bunch and can be cliquey. But to call people who live in boston racist is a joke. Maybe in the suburbs like saugus 😂
Are you black or Latinx?
Lived in Boston for 20+ years now. Still can't call it home and don't particularly like or feel any connection to this place. Just here for the $$$.
