Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

I’m assuming that you’re coming from Middle East so you will be shocked of how open and culturally advanced Istanbul is. Equal if not more upbeat as any big city in the world.

Don't call it Constantinople.
Dress however you want (regular western clothing). But I’d avoid stepping out in flip flops or really casual clothing. Don’t Fall for everything, Istanbul gets a lot of tourists so sometimes there are ppl who try to trick you. And there’s a lot to do - just do some research
Istanbul is one of my favorite cities! It is a meeting point between Asia and Europe and a lot goes on in the city, obviously good and bad.
It has a bunch of alleyways and tucked away streets - as inviting as some of those might be, my biggest tip is to try to stay close to the main/busy roads and not venture too far in exploring. My dad used to travel to Istanbul for work and has shared some crazy stories.
Another thing I’d say, and this seems pretty obvious, but I would stay away from any political protests. I’ve seen a couple on my trips and have had friends who were “curious” and wanted to go. But depending on the political climate, you never know how the law enforcement might perceive certain foreigners.
Lastly, I think someone else mentioned this, but watch out for scammers and pickpocketers - lots of that going on in the city.
Have so much fun and stay safe!

Spent a month in Turkey last year, Istanbul feels like a regular touristy European city for the most part. Be respectful when visiting mosques and careful with tourist scams.
