Why do they not mean anything? Should the only merit be conceptual awards that award scam ads?
Maybe if more creatives embrace web work, the digital space, and NFTs they can remain relevant and have less of a chance of getting aged out of advertising.
I don’t care if people outside our industry care. OUR industry cares and awards help your career. It’s impossible to deny.
Yeah. I don’t measure my career by how many pencils or WEBBYs I’ve won. I have a couple of both. But I also don’t measure it by how many explainer videos I’ve made or organic social posts. A career isn’t measured by any single metric.
I’m starting an award show. Plz Send BTC to here. Winners announced next week.

Gonna need to see some LinkedIn judge announcements first. And by some, I mean a few hundred.
I never started pretending….
If you’re in social, those are important. Let’s stop pretending that Social isn’t important.

The half life of social feels exhausting tbh. You have to be creating content all the time to make a meaningful impact. And so much social is lost in the ocean of content.
OP, I’m curious why someone in your position of power doesn’t work to change the narrative at your agency.
Don’t belittle other awards and say how they don’t matter in advertising. Instead, try to vouch for the person that won a Webby, Graphis, or some other recognition in digital, social, fashion, or design.
Would you truly hire someone who won an award with a scam ad like this over an amazing digital experience that won a Webby?
Wtf is that?
I have 5 Clios (3 gold, 2 bronze). I also have 4 Webbys and 3 Shorty. No one outside of advertising and entertainment have heard of any of them.
So we’re having THIS conversation again…
Agreed. I have heard of people explaining that, even though you essentially pay for an award, bringing back the award to the employees is a way that agencies use to encourage their employees. It's a te building tool.
To me, that's building a fort on sinking sand.
But, in the end, it's what the potential clients thinks that wins. If they think they're working with an award winning agency, it makes the agency look better.
I don't agree with paying for awards, but I get it.
Or Telly. Or that silly In House thing.
