Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

With AI, it is going to be a while before it settles down and even then it might not be in the employee favor. AI has changed everything. Best idea - start getting current with AI and what it can do in your field.

I get this but I really don’t want to, not because I don’t want to learn something new but I hate what it’s doing.
We're all hopeful for the job market to turn around but there doesn't seem to be any reason to expect things to change. The chaos in the economy isn't going to subside, and when health care premiums spike it may get appreciably worse. There's a news story that this was the worse year for layoffs since the pandemic. It's unclear what could change to disrupt the downward trends.
Coach
I think unfortunately it’s going to get worse for a while until some real change comes about.
No things are as good as they'll ever get. We need to somehow adjust against all odds. Lower our spending even more. After the great recession I knew this was the new reality so I adjusted by taking any job that came my way. Save money, go to food banks, don't take anything for granted. We need to demand that the government create AI centers to retrain us for the new world.

I still don’t think we need to accept that AI is here to stay, it is everywhere right now but it really seems like this bubble that’s about to pop.
