There's Le Bontemps Café on MLK and NE Knott, but I've never eaten there, only driven by and checked out their menu online.
I think Matt and Memere's has po-boys! I haven't been but I also asked around about Mardi food this week at work and that's the number 1 answer I got. Let me know if it's worth the hype
I like NoPoBoys in St. John’s, I don’t think they have hush puppies but the Po Boys are great! Some people like Po’ Shines in Kenton but I didn’t think it was that great.
You find it, let me know. I’ve been missing good southern food for a minute.
Good luck. We have to get a special license to have crawfish flown up for a boil. There are a few carts around that do decent poboys (without the good NOLA bread) but you’ll have a harder time finding decent creole, jambalaya, gumbo, piquante, etc.
You can try https://poboyz.com/ I ate there when it was still a food cart in downtown. Service took a little while but food was good. Haven't tried it recently since they moved to the new location.
I have actually tried this as well. Granted I have only been to NOLA once but from my recollection, this place was a REALLY close second to what I had while in NOLA. You shoudl definitely give it a try
There’s a good southern food cart at the Hawthorne asylum food carts
It's kind of a trek but I highly recommend Maw Maw's in Oregon City!! https://www.corner14oc.com/maw-maws-menu
Anyone suggest screen door? They’re the top of the list in my opinion
My brothers crawfish has been making excellent boils for years. You can also buy crawfish online and have them shipped easily. As for po boys and hush puppies, there is a Cajun kitchen inside the swan dive bar on grand Ave. It’s good !
Best of luck! I'm just looking for a decent king cake since NOLA Doughnuts closed.
Miss Delta on Mississippi?
I’m late to the game but joining anyway! Did you find a spot OP?
Gotta second Miss Delta…
Would add Andina, EaT Oyster Bar (delicious poboys and fried okra), and sort of Screendoor (decent hush puppies) and Irving Street Kitchen. Not sure any survived the pandemic but these spots are/were the closest NOLA food here I’ve seen here over the years. And I wouldn’t say any nail it (except Andina, they’re pretty authentic)
And this isn’t what you’re asking for but if ya haven’t yet, check out Pine State Biscuits. The shrimp and grits are pretty great, I honestly haven’t been disappointed by anything I’ve tried there…
