Gave interview sometime back, Initially they did not agree to the ask, since I already have offer from other org which is much greater than what Tavisca is offering.....Difference is around 4lakhs in both of them, the other org is mid sized company which gave higher offer... I'm still pretty new to working for the government, so I'm not entirely sure yet. I like the idea of moving up the ladder and possibly going into management. Probably not public office though, because I don't like that kind of scrutiny. Plus, I'm kind of an introvert.
I'm good with my current position right now. Running for public office is a headache. Politics is something that's not on my list and never will be. I'd rather jump from one department to another just to create stability in my career.
Right now the jobs seem secure, if Congress can stop playing games and threatening temporary shutdowns and furloughs. I doubt I'd ever run for public office. My politics is too sane, common sense, and rational. I'd finish third in a 5-candidate race behind the loony liberal and radical reactionary because the three "good" candidates would split the competent voters' votes.
I don't know honestly...for the longest time I loved being in public service but I'm increasingly thinking about moving to teh private sector and see what it's like. I feel like I don't know much outside of my current world
I recently retired from a career in law enforcement. When I started it was a rewarding career, actually being able to make a difference in the world by helping those in need. I was fortunate enough during that time to save the lives of several people.
I worked hard and took advantage of all the educational opportunities (MPA and BPA in government) and special assignments available. My objective in each assignment was to leave the unit or division better than I found it.
Having started out as a police aide, I worked my way through the ranks and at the time of my retirement was one of the executive officers for a police force of approximately 300 people, charged with protecting a population of 150,000.
Unfortunately over the years, the anti police sentiment driven by the media and certain groups has resulted in a mass exodus of law enforcement professionals. Currently the nation is short about 100,000 law enforcement officers, with few qualified individuals seeking to fill those positions, Today, I wouldn’t suggest that young people enter the field. Existing officers are either retiring earlier than expected or (in the case of the younger folks) finding themselves another profession.
