This fishbowl isn't really active, is it 🙄
I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.
Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.
JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?

1. Does this person's specific talents really fit my current need? (the days of hiring just because you love someone are over) 2. $$$ (cd's always have a budget for their team to work within) 3. Can i help this person succeed or will i not have enough opportunities for them to grow? 4. were there any women or minorities who are better suited for this role?
First I try to make sure they worked on a range of stuff in their book with a range of people. Don't want to accidentally end up with the +1 of an awesome creative. Then it's a matter of confirming they are someone I can bear to spend time with every single day. Especially if I'm going to be working closely with them and giving them feedback.
Yup GCD1. You gotta verify. I see if I have a rapport. For middle levels, I pay close attention to how they present and what they're choosing to show me. For sr levels like ACDs and SVPs, we talk a lot about your career arc, what'd you do differently, what you did right. I definitely need to see you present and in fact I'd love it if you put together a keynote prezzie so I know you are the really real deal.
GCD1: How can they demonstrate they're capable individually if they've only worked with a set partner until then?
Culture fit is huge. To me, that's someone who's got their own personality but is kind/warm and can get along with people. If you have an ego, bai.
All of the above, plus I look for people with a unique POV and artistic or cultural interests outside work. I want to have a team that's inclusive and diverse. I don't look for culture fit for this reason. Passion for the business is huge, too. If you're over it, then why would I invest in you?
That's not to say I don't prioritize respectfulness! No assholes, period.
