I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Lesson learnt:

Never tell your colleagues where you are joining beforehand.
Not all are good advisors, some will ruin your mind with their opinions.

What are placement levels like at Top MBA programs from PE Ops? Is it more in line with MBB or would a two year stint in PE ops boost your application significantly

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!

Does anyone feel guilty about spending so much money on their wedding day?

On one hand I know it will be such a special day with all our family and friends. On top of that I feel like we hired incredibly talented people that will make the day awesome.

Anyone have any affordable case management software recommendations? I’m looking for something a bit non-traditional as I work for a small nonprofit. Ideally the software would involve document organization/access as well as like a running “log” for folks to post relevant events or work completed for the file.

Career Sabbatical?

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? Advice Request: Started my career litigating. Switched to niche transactions (so about half and half at this point). How many billable hours per week is considered at capacity? I’m getting pushback on boundaries I’m setting about additional matters and marketing work from my firm when I’ve been billing 60-75 hours per week for the last 6 weeks, and I’m still behind on my work. I feel like it’s reasonable to not kill myself further to fit in more/turn things around faster at this point, but am I being unreasonable? I expect my workload to remain at this level through the end of the year at least.

I want to get out of ID so badly. I don’t mind the work but the hours are just killing me. I just started at a new firm less than 6 months ago and I am already desperate to get out.
