I personally think this is really stupid and risky, but you’ve got balls and I give you so much credit for that. Good luck on your next move. I hope you find something you enjoy!

Oh yeah, that totally changes things from my perspective. I was drowning in student loans as a junior. Your finances probably look more like mine now, in which case I change my comment to hell yeah! I’d love to hear what you end up doing.

U sure u don't want to try a different firm / group?
If you don’t have financial obligations that necessitate you staying, get out now but I would consider just coasting while you explore other opportunities so you don’t end up high and dry for too long
Just coast for a few months. Turn down matters, take vacation days even if you’re not going anywhere, etc. all while searching for what you’ll do next. In my experience, anyone could coast in big law for 6+ months. Easy money.
I’m also debt free, no kids, and a 2020 grad. I have been coming very close doing this. I decided to try another firm and have told myself I am going to give it 6 months and then do the same if I am still feeling like law is not for me. I totally get it and am pretty close to certain I will end up leaving the law but figured I’d get a signing bonus and try it out. Any idea what you might do next?
Not sure, but I’m entertaining the idea of MBA applications in September so maybe something fairly temporary. Pro-Bono legal work if possible + something part time to hold me over until I (i) apply to business school or (ii) realize I need to get another “real job” then back to square one.
How does it feel to live my dream? Wishing you luck!

I’m quitting in April (4th year). Good for you
c/o 2020, also very much over the firm life. I start a federal clerkship in August so I’m quitting in May so that I can take a longer break
