Sorry, I don't think the starting salaries are below market for MBB. Until we are having a hard time filling slots, I don't see any changes.
McK2, how many MBAs get a good tech job nowadays? Answer is "not many".
IB is a cautionary tale proving that high salaries aren't enough to attract top talent. Once you look past a few groups and boutiques, talent isn't very strong at mid tier BBs

BCG always moved first on MBB salaries. As long as their recruitment targets are being met they will not increase salaries.
Not even that. A 5% raise doesn't impact hiring much - people don't turn down MBB for a few bucks, and they don't mass-apply either just because BCG offered 10 more grands.
It is mainly a retention tool. As long as strong performers aren't exiting, as long as there's no bottleneck in the pyramid, salaries will be flat.
Layoffs may be the next phase. Capital that once supported compensation growth is increasingly being reallocated to AI initiatives, automation, and productivity investments.
