Considering a move to Sidley in New York and would love to hear from anyone in the Finance group (or those who’ve worked closely with them). Do they have a strict in office policy? What is staffing like?

Not in finance but work with them a lot. From what I observe strong deal flow but with a few tough personalities. Very bro-y at the junior level.

4/5 days a week in the office, with some language about potentially reducing bonuses if you don’t average 80%. It’s not strictly enforced.

I’m sure others have considered this, I really feel burned out on my specific subspecialty. For the most part I do interventional pain management. I am midway through my career, but I cannot in anyway see doing this for the future, it just doesn’t feel like I’m making a difference. I’m honored to be a physician and to help a handful of people, but any suggestions on changing specialties mid life? I have perhaps 15 to 20 years yet to practice.. Does anyone else just not even want to be a people manager anymore?! The amount of work this is taking, I’m just so over it. In addition to them piling on my work (which is a full time job) the people management stuff is just as much a full time job that no one in management seems to take into account. I have tried countless times to explain this but I end up burnt out, everyone suffers including me. I just left one role bc of it and now this new role, same thing. I’m over it.

I’m currently an associate (no kids) in a very busy corp group (think 50-60 billable weekly). My wife works significantly less (currently part time, 10-15, but hopefully will be full time soon). I recently lateraled into Big Law. Most of my colleagues are homegrown. My shift did involve a big change in practice area, and there's work that I haven't done before that I now have to do.

But, sometimes I feel stupid here, even for work which I have done previously. It's like I'm unable to understand instructions the first time around. And I have seen my colleagues getting annoyed by that. It's like I've become dumb. In my defence, I could say they're giving half assed instructions.
