Most people are lucky to just keep their jobs these days, so I’d come in expecting somewhere around 5 years to L6 in most cases

If offers been made it’s close to impossible unless you interview for a new position. The bar is diff

Very difficult to do quickly. Plan for several years. You will NOT get mckinsey-speed advancement in Google, with the tradeoff of better wlb and not having up-or-out.

like

Significantly better WLB.

Did you accept? What’s your thought process? What’s the offer? Rsu and base split? Relocation?

Depends on so many factors but realistically you are looking at 2-3 years min.

I came in at L5 and TLC’d to an L6 role in 2 years and 4 months. Had been a finalist for another TLC 2 years into the role. If you are a high performer and networker, definitely possible to do in 2-3 years

Hi Fishes,

Is there a minimum tenure that one has to serve in ZS to ask for office transfers? (within India)

And how often do they get accepted and the general sentiment by the management when one asks for it?

Assuming that my team works from Pune (and i like the job scope) but would like to relocate to Bangalore office (hometown) once the team stabilizes and processes are in place.

Would love to talk with you on DMs if you have any experience similar to this.

TIA!

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.

Need advice & perspectives: I got a verbal review from my manager saying he couldn’t see me as senior cuz I didn’t follow the design doc format he mandates from all designers. While I have been the only designer who does almost everything from design, UI asset creation, wiring up UI in Unity (I am in mobile gaming).
Also the product I’m on has been in MVP stage, things move extremely fast and design decisions changed constantly. He’s not on my team.
Am I crazy for thinking him a bad manager?
