Not to split hairs, but X3 is the BMW equivalent of Q5 and GLC.
Ultimately you can’t go wrong with any of these. Personally I grew up with BMW and am partial to them (plus I think they have the strongest tech integrations), however all of these cars will be good. If you are buying new, don’t worry about reliability… shouldn’t be a concern during the 3-5 years you’ll have the car and will be covered under warranty.
Doesn’t matter which model, the BMW is always the answer
Depends what you value
BMW - performance and driving dynamics
Mercedes - comfort and refinement
Audi - good at everything, great at nothing
Edit: I’ve owned a GLC, iX, and C300.
GLC - zero issues, was very solid
iX - very solidly built (amazing fit and finishing) but has had annoying tech issues - key fob battery replaced 4 times within a year and each required a service appointment and had to leave car there overnight 3 times. Sometimes doors won’t open (have to push button 10 times before it opens). CarPlay doesn’t connect maybe 5% of the time.
C300 - has some annoying interior creaks from the plastic but otherwise solid
If I were single with no kids, I’d go with a CPO Macan 😈
If considering X5, a few points: folks can get 8-10% off in stock models (can get close to the same if you negotiate on a custom order) and BMW is doing 0.9% financing on X5s right now. Free money.
These are all completely different sizes. GLC is the smallest, followed by the Q5 then X5. From personal experience I’d avoid the Mercedes and lean toward the Audi or BMW, depending on your size preference and budget. Try to negotiate included maintenance and extended warranties.
That’s fine - just wanted to clear it up. I’d still avoid the GLC
I love my X4 and E400 coupe. The X6 would have been a bit more convenient over the years for the extra size, though now that we are down to one pre-teen at home vehicle space is less of an issue. Even still, more space would be nice. I mentioned the E400 to say that I love the build quality, quiet engine, and smooth ride, and I would imagine having no issues owning a GLE.
Post warranty I've done all the maintenance myself without issue. If you aren't handy a local shop won't charge the luxury rate, though new parts can be expensive. Neither car has been less reliable than my Fords over the years.
My GLC63s has had zero issues. 2020 model.
Same, had the exact year/model in alpine. Miss that car
