Can you provide additional information on the industry and type of technologies / products you support? I'm assuming you're working as an SE in software

We sell to pre-ipo orgs, mid-market, and all the way up to fortune 50 and the worlds largest banks

I have 50 questions (what's your background prior to being an SE, what tech stacks do you often use at work, what is your ratio of "standard" demos to builds / pilots, etc). If I am to make a few assumptions, if guess that web applications (APIs, system config), security, and data manipulation / analysis are important to you as a SaaS SE. Of these categories, is there one that you feel weakest in? I'd start with udemy/coursera coursework along those lines. But if that's not helpful, I think more info about where you'd like to develop currently or where you'd like to take your career will yield some better recommendations from the group.

I recently posed a question about why people don’t retire earlier after seeing maxing out your tax accounts (~30K with match) gives you ~70k in today’s dollars (not 70k in 2060 dollars). I was a bit hyper obsessed about saving that extra 2-3k a year and saying no to that extra beach trip or mountain weekend or even a round of golf. Now I think I should be saying yes, what do you guys think? Just curious for thisconv

Hi 🐠! I recently got a verbal offer from a firm who was just acquired by a big T2 consulting firm. (Sorry for omitting some details here about the companies). The position is data science related and the location is CA. Base 110k+10% sign on, no relocation bonus. I like this company and position but felt a little underpaid. I reached out to someone who was hired last year before the acquisition and found out they had 10k more in base+more signon+relocation. How can I negotiate for more

Thinking back to when I was in school. What do teachers have to do now that they didn't 20-30 years ago? What do they need to provide now that they did not have to provide back then? I don't recall buying anything than pencils/paper/folders. We covered our used books with newspaper or paper bags Classrooms were simple, not every inch of wall space was covered in charts, etc. The districts/teachers supplied nothing extra.
