Considering leaving my current role ($200k, Chicago, Operations Strategy) for a full-time 1099 role at a former colleagues start-up (Pharma PM role initially, but has potential to evolve). We are very early on in the conversation, but I know I need to be asking for about 1.3-1.5x to not be taking a salary cut.

$200,000 x 1.5 = $300,000 / 2,000hrs = $150/hr

Does this math check-out? Does this seem realistic to ask for / expect?

I have a in person(online, 4 hours - 4 people) technical interview coming up and I have been practicing my coding for the past 3 weeks. The only thought I've been having is "what if I can't solve the coding question?" I am still fairly new to the software engineer scene and the position is for a level 1 software engineer.
Does it essentially end my chances if at any point I can't solve the question? I mean I will definitely attempt to talk it through, ask question, but no progress in code. 🤷
