It’s hard not to agree with all his points. As Connections planners it’s our jobs in a lot ways to force media teams out of spreadsheets

For those of you who aren't media planners (as some comms planners are), how do you define / differentiate yourselves from traditional brand planners? Or, put another way, what do you do?

Yayyy so happy you guys are here.

VPD1 literally just finished presenting a deck on the topic. Lots of explaining, repetition and examples

Good read, thanks for sharing. Life long media bro with 12+ years at mainly large agencies (MDC, WPP and Omnicom). Never worked for media agency so I can't speak to that but I did do a 3 year bid at CPB and it was definitely different.

We had classically trained media thinkers that also cared about the work. There was a clear and consistent cadence from VP to AMP; media is there to facilitate creative.

I took that mentality with me to my current shop and it served me well. Media was a new addition when I started and I was able to quickly build trust because I let them know that my role is to facilitate bringing their crazy ass ideas to life. That helped improve the work and made PMs and AS obsolete for a time.

Open comms with creatives help prevent media from being an afterthought. Moving channels further up in the creative process and/or physically closer to creative helps to make great work.

@Group Director 1 - agree but how?

How do we force them out of spreadsheets?

@Group Director 1 - yeah. How do we get them out of the spreadsheet to realize the bigger pic.

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

Hey friends! I hope everybody has had a productive week and had an awesome weekend for those who enjoyed their holiday! This question is specifically for Amazon Web Services in sales.

So I am currently a potential candidate as an AAE. I was told that I would in the future have to prepare a mock deck and deal with objections.

Has anybody had to prepare them and what was the scenario?

Thanks everyone!
