Curious here - I am applying for new jobs and was doing some research. The career plug person I’ll be interviewing with is not with the agency I applied at of course, so I want to make myself known to the office and stand out. Is it still good ethic to email the boss and introduce yourself?

Hmm. I don't think I would. I understand the thought process, it just seems like introducing yourself before getting the offer is jumping the gun. It shouldn't be held against you, but the boss is busy by nature, so getting an email out of the blue could be taken as an unwanted distraction.

Yeah true, I suppose at my current agency we don’t love that. My boss says it shows persistency, but too much isn’t great lol. Thank you!

My thought process is that their choice is to use that other person, and not involve the boss at the start. I am sure there are people out there who would like it, just never know if that is the type of person you are dealing with or not.

I have done that before and it has been very helpful. I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with it. It also shows that you have initiative and really want the job.

Does anyone work in this arena and would be willing to chat with me? Thanks so much!! Enjoy your Saturday 😊

When non-ad ppl ask you what do you do? In terms of title; do you tell them “copywriter”? Or immediately assume they dont know and might confuse it with copyright infringement, and just end up telling them that you’re a writer or a creative director, and skip the hassle

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?
