So- we run Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) for our clients display ads in a feed and corresponding google sheet via Google DoubleClick. My q is- does anyone know what systems out there allow for creating a template that will automatically pull a product image from say Target.com and automatically building the ad & copy without manually making 1000 ads via row for row in the google sheet? I know this is possible but curious if Sizmek or Flashtalking are more common in this type of creative development.

I made that move a few years back, and its a very different rhythm. At the agency, you juggle clients. In-house, you juggle departments. I found the work slower, but more intentional. Agency sharpened my speed, but in-house gave me actual ownership. You’re not just churning through accounts, you’re building a brand. The hard thing on in-house role was the politics. You’re in the ecosystem now. Red flag to look for: if the company wants you to “do everything digital” solo. That’s a setup. Look for teams that respect channel strategy, not just hustle.
I actually did the opposite lol! I moved from agency to in-house, and the difference was immediate. At the agency, I juggled five brands a week and learned a ton but burned out fast. In-house let me go deeper, own long-term strategy, and actually see tests through. It’s less chaotic, but also slower, and sometimes people don’t fully get paid media. If you like the fast paced culture, agency would be great!

I think OP is going from agency to in-house too. Were there any red flags about in-house work?
I have gone from agency to in-house roles too. The difference is no one tells you what needs to be done. You have to find the work and make it happen otherwise everyone will question your performances. Try to avoid internal politics and know whom to impress when it comes to work line. Also expect to explain lots of basics to in-house team. Red flags to look our for not setting proper KPIs and going on about if the work is done. Always seek clarity at work and with your JD.
Great point about not having someone telling you what work needs to be done and rather finding it. I struggle with this but it's also something I want to grow skills in, so something to keep in mind! This is so helpful! Thank you!
