I had an earlier rsvp because people were coming from far away and I knew a lot of my family members would need follow up…ended up needing the extra time 🙃
Rising Star
Most people know immediately whether they will go or not. A quick timeline means they are more likely to just do it immediately. That teanslates to the couple not have to follow up with people. So much has to be committed to 4 to 6 weeks out that is guest count specific, they don't need everyone waiting to the last minute to take the time to RSVP.
They might have a B List if the venue is smaller
2nd this! We’re doing an earlier rsvp deadline as well and exactly for this reason.
Visual Storyteller
Planning the layout of the room, how many tables/chaies, how much staff to hire, how many flowers to buy, food, there’s quite a lot…you need to get vendors numbers and be able to busget
I had a B list that I invited people off of for every no we got from A list. Most of our guests were out of town, so they knew early whether they were coming since they would have had to make arrangements/take time off of work.
Rising Star
it depends on their vendors and venue mostly! some caterers need more notice than others, or things like table / chair rentals etc. they may have a lot of custom stationery being made for the day so their stationer needs those names to design the escort wall/menus/placecards/etc.
or it could just be bigger time so when people don’t answer in time it gives them a week or two to chase people down for an answer
