I’m paying for hair and makeup for whoever wants it, but no one is required and they’re welcome to do their own if they prefer.
I’m doing the same
Pro
I’m paying for hair and makeup. They’re not being forced to do it but it’s sorta understood they all are - professional hair and especially makeup will look significantly better in photos and will likely last longer
My bridesmaids (just had 2) are not skilled in doing makeup and don’t wear much normally so I was definitely glad I had theirs professionally done. Did not want acne showing in photos!! I feel like I could have done my makeup as well as the artist though and it was stressful getting her to fully understand what I wanted. A trial is SO NECESSARY. She tried airbrush makeup on me for the trial and it literally melted off my face an hour later and it would have been so bad on the day of dripping off! I have very oily skin and am a sweaty person, and I think because my skin is clear from a good skincare routine she didn’t believe me that powder was necessary. Spend a full day testing out your trial makeup for longevity and if you can have her use things you own so you can do touchups (at least purchase the concealer, powder, and lip products you want to use).
I struggle with false lashes so was grateful she could do those for me and it was sort of nice to be pampered though. But in my experience a lot of the “bridal artists” are a little too into the natural look and I had to be like no please put more concealer and more blush/highlight. It was surprising because I originally thought I should be concerned they would go too full coverage. I’m a redhead though and people usually aren’t experienced with doing makeup that works with our coloring. If you like the way your bridesmaids do their makeup normally then maybe don’t do it. You could test it out during the bachelorette party getting ready together and see how everyone photographs.
I’m going to pay for hair and makeup, I’m just moving forward assuming everyone is going to want to do that unless told otherwise. But I’d prefer they all do so they all can look/feel their best in the photos and their hair stays put all evening.
I wanted just simple waves and didn’t want to stress about it day-of. My two sisters and I went to drybar for hair. It turned out great. Cheaper and less stressful than having a hair stylist. Would recommend for a more laidback wedding.
I paid for bridesmaid hair and make up and it was totally worth it. For one, I wanted everyone to have a stress-free day of pampering. I also had bridesmaids with various skill levels but wanted them to feel just as glam as the rest of the group. I didn’t have a theme or any requests for either hair or makeup but it’s easier to request that vision when you have someone do it for the group.
