It’s frustrating but unfortunately it’s how it works. They have something in high demand and don’t need to spend time with potential customers.
As others have said, they’re also inundated and can’t tell who’s serious and who’s not. That’s why many prefer working with reputable planners. It’s a signal of quality.
Yes, I’ve been reaching out to venues in London and have been surprised at several who simply don’t respond. It’s bad form for a premium service provider and an easily solvable problem with a half-decent sales process and email system in place. Their lack of savvy and interest turns me off of wanting to work with them for a year+ on logistics and responsibility sharing. I would only tolerate it for my absolute favorite venue (and would still be wary). Will they also ignore my vendors? Will they be impossible to reach if there’s an urgent issue the week before my wedding? Not interested in paying thousands for shoddy service.
Are you trying to book a venue or have you already booked one and they’re not responding? Usually after you book they should answer your questions more promptly
Yeah I’ve tried it all at this point. We’ve fallen in love with 4 and have experienced this issue at various stages with all of them and have wasted months of valuable planning time because of it. With the latest one, we have a soft hold on a date and have been following up for the actual contract for over week and have gotten zero response despite being initially very responsive. We think it’s because we’re planning a smaller wedding so the venues give us less priority over the bigger events.
Think of it as a saving grace that they're terrible/unresponsive upfront. They are letting you know that they do not value your patronage. If they're ghosting you before they've gotten your business, just imagine how terrible they'll be once you've sent them a large deposit. Cross them off your list and move on.
