You can try to negotiate more than 15% and even 1x at the office. Everything in this climate is negotiable - especially if they reached out to you. Worth a shot but imo happiness comes before money. Do what you love and the money will come - eventually ; )
You really need to ask yourself if 15% is enough for you to not work fully from home.
Also does this new role align with your long term career goals? If it does then consider asking for more than 15%?
It’s a No for me. 🤷🏾♀️
Negotiate! I echo what manager 1 said, if they reached out to you then they want you badly and you never have more leverage than you do right now. I quit my job and they asked for me back and I was able to negotiate things that would’ve felt absurd to me before I left. Congrats for being in such a good position with them!
Give them the price it would take for you to want to take on 2x in office. Sounds like you’re happy with status quo so onus is on them to make it with your while to switch and sounds like they know they want you
Rising Star
1 - Your old company didnt want to pay you more until after you left. This isnt about being petty its about the fact that they got you at a discount previously. If they will do it once, they will do it again.
2 - What is WFH worth? Sit down and do the math - gas, wear and tear on your vehicle, other commute costs, clothing, food, etc. Capture it all. Next get the non monetary costs. What is the value of the time to go into the office? For me in the DC area I came up with $25K a year just for commute costs and time.
3 - You mentioned additional responsibilities and hours. Assuming a 40 hours a week baseline, 15% more would be 46 hours. If you are adding more than 15% extra time for only 15% extra pay, its not a raise.
Lets assume you are going from 40 to 46 hours of work time and your two days a week in the office add 3 hours of commute. 15% is a pay cut. All you are doing is trading more time for more money and you are selling the extra time at a discount. It would be the opposite. Every hour over your baseline should cost extra. If your baseline is for hours for $X per hour, anything over should be 2X at a minimum. 15% extra time should be 30% extra pay. Minimum.

Thank you. These are really valid points and exactly what I needed to hear. I’ll counter offer. I’ll see where they can meet me, but I’m not willing to take a pay cut.
