I've read about this too. I personally think it's a dangerous oversimplification. While AI can certainly automate repetitive tasks and maybe generate some basic code structures, true innovation and problem-solving still require human expertise. It's pretty ignorant to reduce a programming team to a skeleton crew solely reliant on AI ... I feel like it would risk sacrificing creativity and the ability to handle any complex, nuanced challenges.

Highly agreed that it's an oversimplification
AI definitely made coding faster and easier. What I don’t know is, however, if that’s only the case with experienced coders, or also with beginner coders.

It has to make beginner coders faster but I just worry that they're missing out the fundamentals
It’s definitely going to impact junior or inexperienced developers since companies will not have any patience or time to invest in their training

Exactly
As a CTO friend of mine put it, AI is a force multiplier. If you are a bad programmer who writes 100 lines of bad code, AI will help you write 10000 lines of bad code. However, yes, significant efficiency gains can ensue from using AI well. AI usage also lowers the barrier to entry into programming for driven and intellectually curious individuals, and considerably accelerates their growth.

This is very true. Software engineering salaries will come way down
