I don't purposefully put on just scrubs to go out. But if I'm in them after work, I'm running those errands in scrubs. I didnt do that during covid to minimize exposure but now I don't care. Unless you're visibility bloody or have other bodily fluids, there's non reason to change.
I don’t change in the evenings if I have to run somewhere. I work in a senior community, it’s no germier than schools, offices, etc. I don’t want more laundry for no reason.
That’s nursing one 0 one. No scrubs outside of work unfortunately it carries germs wherever you go.
The current CDC or former one that actually relied on science?
No and I never really did. If someone thinks or says you’re dirty just tell them so are they and to mind their own business. Your scrubs don’t have more germs on them than any other clothing!
I would just be thinking of the germs, to be honest.
I never go out in my scrubs.
They are loaded with saliva and blood spray and bacteria. I change at work before I even get in my car.
I work in primary care, so I don't have that problem lol. That's why I said unless there's bodily fluids on it, it's a go.
I keep a garment bag hanging in my SUV in the “trunk”
I use Lume deodorant wipes and clean up if it's more than “running into the store for one item” after my shift.
I don't want to give society the impression Ive given up on life.
Pajamas in public used to be a sign of a mental health crisis.
I hate how lazy we’re becoming as a society
If we show people we don’t care about our appearance, we show them we don’t care much.
I don't feel there is anything wrong with wearing scrubs in public. You can still look professional and nice in scrubs. I wouldn't put them to go somewhere from home, but certainly during or after work hours as long as they are clean. At home, not going anywhere, I have a farm. I look like a barn bum because I am one. I do enjoy dressing nicely and going out in public on the weekends though it does feel like more work now that it's getting very hot.
If you're stopping by McDonald's or Starbucks on the way to work, fine. If you're in the movie theater or at church after a 12 hr shift, gross. If I see you at a party or a concert in scrubs, I will judge. Scrubs are considered work wear. You don't see most other uniformed professionals walking around in uniform after they are off. There's an unwritten rule of acceptable places you should wear scrubs to.
Similar to the 3 second rule, I personally have created a "3 minute rule". I will only go places in (clean) scrubs if I will only be there within 3 minutes. I will not go anywhere on scrubs after a shift out of respect for others.
I try to change from
My scrubs because I don’t want people to talk to me.
35 yrs as a surgeon wearing scrubs at work I always changed into reg clothes if outside the hospital or clinic.
Why? Public health and humility.
I just wear comfortable clothing when I'm not at work, but it's not pajamas more like athleisure or jeans
