I think it's definitely a part of it. God gave us the ability to connect with people and hopefully be a positive influence in the lives of our students. Obviously we can't implicitly preach to our students verbally, but we can show them love, teach them how to rise above the standards of the world, and just generally be good people. I let students in our youth group put up flyers/stickers for said youth group and flyers for retreats. That way I am not the one doing it and I can still have conversations with kids about it.
I also have an Instagram account in which I share little devotionals almost every day. Many students know about it and follow me (although not many watch my videos) since I can't really stop people from following me. It's a way to reach lost students that I wouldn't normally get a chance to in the school setting. Plus, I think it gives kids a sense of who I am and what I stand for.
What about you OP?

I really like your Instagram idea. I don’t do social media but that idea may give me a reason to.
When I think of my work as a ministry, I can let go of all the red tape and the drama and the bureaucracy of the job. Showing love and caring for my students as Jesus cares for us is the joy of my life. There have been times when kids have come to me with problems and I’ve listened and then knowing I don’t have the answer, I ask to pray with them. It always seems so scary in the moment. But when I get that nudge from the Holy Spirit, I know I have to at least ask. I’ve never been turned down (or turned in). I have realized this really is the only way I can do this work. The system is so broken and it makes me sad. But I remember, I’m not here on the earth to work in a system. I’m here to “work the work of Him who sent me while it is day.” Of course, I teach. But my higher calling is to be a light and to share the love. Thanks for asking.
That's awesome! The Lord works in mysterious ways. If you feel a nudge, you've got to go with it. That's something that I've been slowly learning over the last few years. Thank you for following those urges. I pray that God continues to use your job as an educator to bring students to Him! Keep up the good work!!
Yes, I do. I try to be as representative of Jesus as my humanity allows. When I get quiet, the kids think I'm angry. I am not - I'm praying. I also answer any questions that come up - & they do come up as I am active with my church & in some ministries - and they know that because we talk about out weekends.
Seeing my teaching as a ministry has brought many rewards.
Scripture tells to do all things as if for God. My kids are aware of my faith & how often I'm involved in church & church-related things.
They have questions... I answer them. I endeavor at all times to be the best example of Jesus to them & my colleagues as I can. Lots of prayer.
Love that verse! Additionally, Matthew 5:16 works really well too. I wish that we were able to be more open with our faith while in the class, however, I love just being that positive person at school for others-both students and teachers.
It’s hard to be a light for Jesus if you don’t act like He hasn’t changed your life. We gotta Shine!!
Yes, teaching is a ministry. I share Jesus with my students through encouragement and praise. I strive to be a light daily. In addition , if I know a parent is going through I let them know I am praying for them. We should never be ashamed to live for Christ!!
The world is getting darker and darker. Thank God for James 1:17!
Since we know our gifts are not for us, they should be used to build God’s Kingdom. Indeed, All that Christians do, are ways to bring glory to God just like Joseph and Daniel. While the state and those who are against Christ want Jesus out of our speeches, they forget that it’s because of Him we are still joyful in the midst of chaos. Christians offer compassion while many are uncompassionate and we offer love while some others have hatred.
Let’s make Him known by quietly amplifying our services before the world. We are no different to Joseph, Daniel and his companions. Let’s continue to do our work with excellence and display Christ in all that we do.
