I definitely used to feel this way all the time. It felt like I was always about to detonate the biggest mistake of my life. But eventually I came to realize that we all make mistakes, and rarely is a mistake unfixable.
I know exactly what you mean. That constant fear of pressing the wrong button or publishing too soon feels like walking on eggshells. You are right though, most mistakes can be fixed. It just never feels that way in the moment.
I relate to this a lot. The pressure of one click or one line going out wrong feels immense in this industry. I try to pause before hitting publish, but the fear never fully goes away.
Career anxiety can be pretty common, I will say though one spelling mistake one time shouldn’t ever ruin your career so if you’re feeling an enormous amount of pressure you should see if you can talk through it with a manager
It's always been the case that a mistake could end one's career, but social media has really made that much more likely to happen. There are cases like you describe, where eagerness to get something out can almost make you jump the gun on something. And there are a lot of cases where people get emotional and say something intemperate (to put it politely) on social media that they'll regret. I bring that up as we've been seeing some examples of that last night and today.
That is such a good point. The pressure of social media has added another layer of risk. It is not just about speed anymore, but how a single slip can spread instantly. Balancing urgency with caution feels harder than ever.
There is always a fallback to say, that you need to confirm and verify certain information, but this has been mentioned online...... More information to follow. You are being honest and informing without getting too much depth
It's something I suggest you write down
