Yes and no. Yes in that I've still got a job and should get promoted in the next year or two. No in that I'm still not making enough to feel like the effort is justified. My paycheck does not feel like an adequate reflection of how hard I work.
Rising Star
In the same boat. I’m essentially doing two people’s job for one salary. And I got pushback when I asked for more. And look at me now? Doing two people’s job
Compared to what I see around, I’m pretty happy with the opportunity to progress. We are given a small bump for each title change, and the job is usually not too much extra. Recognition goes a long way where I work. We have a few bosses who are always shouting people out and giving credit, and it’s made a real difference in morale.
Yes! Being told you're doing a good job only goes so far when every day is an absolute struggle! Having some support and pay to match is how recognition should work.
Well, me myself I’m a firm believer in God and in Jesus Christ so I have to look at the world through spiritual eyes and so when I’m on a job, I got it in my head then I’m working for the Lord. I’m not working for man. He subject to fail, but God can never fail and it is my belief that God is the one that led me to the job just like I believe God’s the one that gives the babies to the world
As of now, I feel that’s not really important right now in the grand scheme of things because I don’t want to remain in retail for the rest of my life. I agree that it’s always good to keep wanting to move forward/upward professionally though…but more so in the industry you feel you want to be in long-term.
