Not unless they are in banking or the financial sector. If you're not dealing with money, then I don't see why they need to do that.

I agree !!!
I don't see what a credit check has to do with your ability to perform a job. I personally don't think any job should ever be allowed to do that. If you have something on your record like being arrested for stealing money, then that's understandable on a background check. But a credit check? I'm not buying a car or house from them, I'm just trying to work for them.

I think it’s invasive ! And truly makes no sense
A background check is suffice. Anything financial should be omitted in our sector.
I'm afraid too many companies use credit checks to find an excuse to make a decision they want to make for less socially acceptable reasons. Insurance companies base their premiums or their willingness to provide insurance based on credit checks. Many employers run a credit check to weed out undesirable applicants. I believe the powers that be would like to go back to the days when the only people who could vote were white men who owned property. It sounds counter-intuitive that someone who makes so little that they sometimes have to pay their bills late should obviously be required to pay more for insurance or a loan. I don't buy the "risk" element at all.

It’s truly ridiculous! I feel it’s none of their business to be honest !
