I’m happy that my agency sent a junior level staffer that I honestly didn’t know much about, as opposed to sending someone more up the chain who might find less passion in the experience
No. We had an award winner a few years ago and the Art Director who came up with the entire idea and then made all the content - never got to go to Cannes and the person’s name was never on the credits. A bunch of undeserving people who had no hand in it went in their place.

Why did the agency do that?

Define “deserve.”
The people who run the company get to go.
you are there to work and meet clients, the attendees are matched to what clients are going, and then usually anyone behind a big winner.
Yes. In our agency they send the teams who deserve to go. And they send some C suite and high up people because nowadays there are a lot of clients in Cannes.
Well, I do not work for CHI. But about caption with intention: the intern that came up with nugget of the idea 6 years ago is no longer working at FCB. But it seems that the people who crafted the idea and kept it alive for 6 years are here. The ECD and ACD. Is there anyone who played a crucial role on this piece of work that’s not here? Open to hearing it.
None of the people going to accept my team and I’s gold lion this week even cared about the client or knew my name before our idea got bought. My partner and I worked insane hours for a year straight to get this work made and so did the rest of our core team. It’s never fair 🙄
They didn't know your name because you want to be called Associate Creative Director 1
If Cannes is the ninth circle of hell, then yes.
JK. I don't care.
I think so if you consider it’s less about what is actually presented and more of a client networking event. Who else would they send to network with senior clients?
Yes 100% they lead the relationships and are much better at keeping the drama alive. The rest of us are there to do the work
