I ask because I do this for fun. And then I might tweak something in a reply brief or whatever based on the prediction (maybe, really depends). But if I knew if clerks did this, even for fun, I'd definitely test it out for everything so that the "first impression" so to say was good.
The adverb « just » implies that feeding the material into the AI program was the only or at least the primary task you were asking about. To be clear, AI produces terrible documents. Judges can ask clerks to discuss drafts in depth, which is virtually impossible without knowledge of the underlying briefing and supporting authority. Some (mostly young) clerks use AI to point them to seminal cases in new areas of law. Most clerks can also smell sterile, AI-generated filings a mile away, and judges have little to no patience for such behavior, at least by counsel (as opposed to pro se litigants).
