Aren't you a manager lol? But to answer your question, yes I demand it from my team in case I want to pop into their homes for some face time
EY2 - your Manager sounds like an idiot.
Really don’t think it matters. If you’d like to use the trip as a small talk topic sure you can talk about it. If you are a private person I don’t see why you have to bring up unless there’s time difference
I’ve taken entire trips and my boss had no idea. Think you’ll be fine

No, shouldn’t be a problem unless you plan to be there for months (or longer extended periods), for tax purposes
Unless there’s a significant time difference, I don’t think it’s worth mentioning. I worked from Hawaii for a month and told my entire team (associates - partner). Even in this instance, my team was surprised that I felt the need to share, in spite of the time difference. Just get your work done.
Of course you don't need to tell them. Nobody cares so don't waste their time explaining.

You can just put a status on your chat app (Skype, slack, etc) that you are working remotely (I have colleagues that do this when they are working from different time zones or something). It’s just a way to CYA, so you can’t get in trouble for not telling anyone
With that said, I once noticed (in the middle of busy season) when my staff had time stamps on their emails from different time zones, and were working bizarre hours without communicating. Clearly traveling, without having told anyone about it. All fine and dandy, except we were near deadlines, pulling long hours, and needed coverage for people to occasionally go to the office to perform certain tasks. I would have appreciated them just communicating up front instead of moonlighting and traveling across the country. They had alot of performance issues which didn’t help.
