What are the most likely or common ways people are "coached out"? Is it generally a vague process or do they straight up tell you?

When I had to do it we were told by HR that it was ok to tell the person that they may wish to look outside the firm for other opportunities or a better fit. This was part of the PIP process so I would say no, it was not that vague.

Agree with PwC 1 - you’re encouraged to seek opportunities outside of the firm, so it’s pretty clear that you’re getting pushed out.

Do people who are coached out get a severance if they don’t voluntarily leave?
