Does anyone else just feel like a never ending background anxiety that exists every workday? Like even when things are going calmly and smoothly, and you’re doing your job well, it’s there, lurking in the background. I don’t know if this is what everyone feels, or if it’s generalized anxiety, but I hate it. I’ve been in corporate for 4 years now, and this has been going on seemingly for a long time. Even in my current role which I like and am doing fairly well at.

sounds like chronic stress that could be caused by a variety of things.

I would recommend talking to a professional about that

That’s not normal. You should definitely talk to someone about it! Hoping for the best for you, OP ❣️

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

We just moved into a 50 year old house. We got the popcorn ceiling removed in the garage plus had the walls done. We didn’t use an official asbestos expert because of the price.

The horrible, dirty people that lived there before us left us a crappy mess. Hope we are not exposed, nor the neighbors.

Within my first year of Consulting, really struggling with the hours amongst other things. Spoken to a couple of people internally and the advice is to get on to projects with bigger budgets and therefore bigger teams/more support. I want to wait until I hit the one year mark before making a decision on whether Consulting is for me or not. Curious to hear from other experienced hires..how is/was your first year?

COMMENTS REQUESTED!

In the past, lawyer wellness and lawyer discipline/character fitness for bar applicants have existed in silos. I’d like to finally form a bridge between lawyer disciple and lawyer wellness and focus on prevention. When we think of lawyer discipline, we automatically think of outrageous behavior like stealing money. Those are extreme. The common cases are too stressed out and forgetting deadlines or death of a loved one and not having time to call clients back. Cont’d

What are some of the best books you’ve read about people and investing? Such as dealing with people (business psychology almost) and then investing (real estate more specifically)!

I am looking for books that give practical advice, not just big picture theory and motivation.

Do people really actively hop to different firms every 2-3 years to solely increase their compensation? I know it’s like a cheat code for higher salary, and everyone on this bowl talks about it, but curious if people actually do this as their career/compensation strategy. The cases I’ve seen were people move every couple years was more to them being pushed out rather than proactively chasing compensation increases. What have you seen or have you taken this approach?
