Looking for some advice on the following - I want to make a pivot back to client services, specifically advisory/consulting/transaction services. I have 4 years public accounting experience, and 3.5 years manager experience within the corporate controllership function, both technical and SEC reporting related (more technical than SEC). What roles would I be a fit for? Public experience includes tax and audit. EY PwC KPMG Deloitte
Imagine being an auditor lmao

A&M isn’t interested in an Audit Manager from RSM…
Heard KPMG FDD is hiring…

Your problem is that A&M almost exclusively hires those who already have FDD experience and within that group they almost always hire from B4 FDD. Don’t bother with A&M at this point it’s a losing battle. You will be competing with people who already have fdd experience, most who go for A&M already are from FDD. You are better off Audit Manager -> FDD Manager/senior anywhere -> A&M. You need experience
Your best bet is to work towards joining ANY FDD opportunity that pops up because you need the experience. Even then I personally transferred as a B4 Audit Manager to B4 FDD and trust me, managing deals is not even close to the same as audit. You will get wrecked which is why most firms don’t take audit managers, unless you networked (partner referrals, etc) extremely well and are basically a superstar. Go for B4 FDD/MM FDD first asap.

Reality is that FDD is extremely competitive these days and it’s very hard to get in. Theres just no one hiring and a long line of internal transfers and hoards of auditors trying to join just look at the sheer number of posts on fishbowl daily asking for referrals. FDD Senior 1s join A&M as associates, its really hard for you to beat that with no experience. Theres already zero hiring at B4 FDD. Your chances are much higher networking or having a RSM partner on your side to get the RSM FDD partner to get you in as a manager. Most Managers get in that way without title deflation.

M1 will typically be last year Senior Associate.
If you do well and ramp up fine, you'll be promoted to Manager after a year.
I'd be looking to come into FDD as an Associate though understanding the fact that I don't have any prior experience.
