Does anyone here work in healthcare (especially in a hospital) and also sell health insurance on the side? After getting your health insurance agent license, how do you realistically do this as a second income stream? Do you usually work under an existing agency, or do you have to start your own business/brokerage?

I honestly have no idea how you'd go about doing this. Did you try posting in the insurance bowl? I'm guessing someone there would be better able to help you out.

I would check with your hospital's policy first. Some don't mind, others have strict policies against moonlighting. It's not worth losing your job over. Mine has a policy against it, so I didn't pursue it.

It’s a little different, but I was a life insurance agent during the pandemic. I was also working 12 hour shifts as a security guard. I did lots of remote meetings with clients (due to COVID) and it made the job soooo much more manageable. I could even set up short meeting while at my security job, so it worked out pretty well!

Im a RN and took on a new role working in Home Health. I chose this position because My husband & I recently moved to PA with our 2 kids (1&3), with no family available for his residency program with a hospital. If you know that life, I’m pretty much the main parent for our kids. I don’t want to work in the hospital/floor work anymore; nor do I believe the hrs are flexible enough. I need a job that’s flexible for the kids but pays >$44/hr. Maybe remote or hybrid? Please help w/ suggestions.

Good morning!

Still trying to figure out this whole Fishbowl thing, so here goes my first post.

I would love to get into provider credentialing, but all employers I've looked at want at least 3 years of experience. So, I'm looking at Provider Network Coordinator roles, because I'm finding some of those roles don't need AS MUCH experience. I'm a RHIT, and have been working in healthcare for nearly 10 years.

Any input on employers is appreciated!
