This job is absolutely draining. I think the people who aren’t exhausted by it are just built different. I envy them.

I am currently drained. I was yesterday, too. And all the days before that.

I found exercising every day really helped. It boosted my mood and also built stamina to work long hours without becoming exhausted. Start slowly (20 mins a day) and build up gradually.
Planning things to look forward to, like weekend trips or concerts, also helped.
Just in case, have your PCP run a broad panel of blood tests. And be screened for a sleep issue or depression.
Love this answer totally agree with everything. It’s magical what an impact exercise can have on your mood and overall wellbeing.

Walk around while you’re thinking. Neurology studies sho it helps your focus and cognition. That’s how I constructed examinations for 30 years.
I think the type of work also helps. I’m usually not drained, maybe just tired from all-nighters, but still interested and motivated 6 years in. But I got a case from another practice group who needed extra help, and I have never felt so drained. All of the sudden, I understood those people who insist this is the worst job. Then that case ended and I’m back to my regular work and can breathe easy again.
Maybe that’s why I am so drained all the time. Only ever done employment litigation and I find this job so taxing it is unbelievable
I have an 8 lb dumbbell under my desk for reps here and there when I can squeeze them in. The sitting at a desk all day, hardly any movement, just drains me

Depends on the day. If I get to structure it, have nice interactions with colleagues and clients and get my five to six hours of sleep it generally works. If I have an absolutely hectic day, need to stay up after midnight for a couple of days or have a day with lunches, in person pitches, and dinners combined, I am essentially dead at the end of the week.

yes, definitely one of those “convenient genes” kind of thing
